Sinergias has been supporting indigenous communities to strengthen their own solutions to social and health challenges. We are currently promoting initiatives designed and led directly by the indigenous peoples of Vaupés. These projects prioritize the revitalization of ancestral knowledge, community participation and respect for the indigenous cosmovision.

DUTI MARIRO NISETIRA - Botanical Medicine in Bogotá Cachivera (AATAC)

This project strengthens traditional botanical medicine through the creation of a community vegetable garden managed by wise men and women, youth and families. It seeks to preserve ancestral knowledge of medicinal plants, promote their use in disease prevention and treatment, and reduce dependence on the Western health system. The initiative promotes intergenerational learning and institutional recognition of traditional medicine.

Chicha Tomato Analysis - Ceima Cachivera (AATIAM)

In response to the social tensions derived from alcohol consumption, this project promotes a community analysis from the perspective of indigenous knowledgeable people. Through dialogues, spiritual healing and women's participation, traditional management strategies are constructed to improve coexistence, prevent conflicts and strengthen local governance.

In Search of Well-Being - Medicinal Plants in Santa Marta (ASOUDIC)

This initiative seeks to conserve and apply traditional knowledge about medicinal plants in the indigenous community of Santa Marta. With the participation of knowledgeable people, children, youth and families, species of importance in the management of prevalent diseases are identified and planted. The project produces bilingual educational materials and promotes the transmission of ancestral knowledge through the school and the community garden.

Protectors of the Jungle - Youth AATAC

This project, led by the youth coordination of the association, seeks to make visible the problems that affect indigenous youth in 11 communities of Vaupés, such as bullying, sexual harassment and loss of cultural identity. Through surveys, discussions and meetings, the youth collect and systematize information to influence public policies from their own voice. The initiative combines intercultural methodologies and communication tools to generate changes from the territory.
