What did we do?

In this project, developed in 20 departments, we followed up girls, boys and mothers served by the national strategy for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

We actively searched for mothers diagnosed with HIV infection who were registered in the database of the strategy for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and whose exposed children were not being followed up.

We surveyed mothers and caregivers to identify the reasons why HIV-exposed children did not complete their follow-up in the MTCT HIV strategy. We also developed an Inspection, Surveillance and Control (IVC) strategy aimed at Health Promoting Companies, Territorial Directorates with a focus on primary health care for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
