Construction of a proposal for the operation of a Community-based Public Health Surveillance strategy for Colombia.

This project provided operational guidelines for the exercise of community-based Public Health Surveillance, taking into account the territorial and population diversity of the country. This process was carried out by reviewing previous international, national and local proposals and experiences, as well as a focus group with national experts. The guidelines provided are based on the use of the concept of “networks”, which are consolidated in the formal scenarios already established in the legislation and contextualized according to the category of the territorial entity. In the development of this product, a pilot test was conducted in indigenous communities in the suburban area of the municipality of Mitú, Vaupés.
