Assessment of the quality of prenatal care in Colombia

What did we do?

1. We conducted research on the quality of prenatal care in 20 Colombian departments, evaluating the record of effective activities in reducing maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MSPS), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

2. Considering the importance for future pregnancies, we also investigated data related to childbirth, puerperium and newborn care.

3. This process also included the development of a mixed research on the barriers faced by adolescents and young people in seeking sexual and reproductive health services in Bogota, funded by the District Health Secretariat of Bogota in agreement with UNFPA.
