Since 2018, Sinergias has been working with the Association of Traditional Indigenous Authorities of the Mitú Region (AATIAM) to strengthen its Indigenous and Intercultural Health System (SISPI).
The main objective is to consolidate territorial governance based on local leadership. Along the way, the Association established a steering group that, in addition to working on the development of the SISPI, led meetings with various communities to collectively design care initiatives, with a special emphasis on maternal and child health and the intergenerational transmission of knowledge, designed to be integrated into the Collective Intervention Plan (PIC).
At the same time, work continued on developing AATIAM’s SISPI document, which brings together knowledge on managing the seasons of the annual cycle—such as traditional ecological calendars—along with epidemiological and territorial planning information useful for dialogue with health institutions and for contributing to the Indigenous Life Plan. Progress on this work was presented in forums such as the permanent roundtable for consultation with the indigenous peoples of Vaupés and the technical health roundtable, where AATIAM has positioned itself as a pioneering organization in the development of the SISPI and the members of the steering group as leaders in this area.
