The kitchen is conceived as a vital space to promote adequate food and nutrition in the communities, especially for children through the preparation of recipes based on local foods that contribute to nutritional recovery, especially after illnesses such as flu and diarrhea.

Likewise, the kitchens are configured as places where training in ancestral weaving and pottery techniques is encouraged, including all the ritual practices around them. Additionally, the kitchens will be a safe environment for gathering, in which conversation about the importance of caring practices and good relationships will be promoted.

The project seeks to strengthen life care practices and the transmission of knowledge about food through the construction and provision of traditional community kitchens. The project will be carried out in the peri-urban communities of Mitú (Puerto López, Santa Marta, Tucandira, Pueblo Nuevo and Puerto Corroncho). These kitchens will become a space for the transmission and exchange of knowledge and ancestral knowledge about the care and health of children, with emphasis on the planting, collection and preparation of food, as well as the utensils necessary for its preparation.

The entire process will be documented with the collaboration of a collective of young communicators from the communities, in order to create educational materials that contribute to the preservation of the local memory of the people living in the territory.
