Resolution 3280, in force since 2018, establishes the technical and operational guidelines for the health care of the maternal-perinatal population in Colombia. It defines the organized actions and responsibilities of the different actors of the health system for its implementation in the territories, in order to contribute to the achievement of the maximum possible wellbeing of women, their children, and their families.
In 2025, with the support of the Maternal and Child Health Award, the multidisciplinary team of Sinergias ONG - made up of professionals in nursing, public health, pediatrics and gynecobstetrics - is working together with the Municipal Territorial Entity of Patía and the ESE El Bordo to identify the institutional capacities necessary to implement the actions of the Maternal-Perinatal Route. This work is carried out through the application of instruments developed in previous projects, which allow the construction of participatory improvement plans, involving different levels and actors of the system.
The Synergies team promotes coordination among institutional units to facilitate coordinated interventions and establish intersectoral agreements. In addition, it supports the strengthening of the technical capacities of the health human talent that provides care to women of childbearing age, pregnant women, children and their families.
We have conducted training processes on topics such as contraception, pregestational care, prenatal and newborn care, as well as response to obstetric emergencies. These trainings have been developed through virtual and face-to-face tools, and included both intramural personnel and basic teams, promoting adequate, comprehensive and quality health care.

Intercultural maternal and child health in Vaupés
The department of Vaupés is home to a great diversity of indigenous peoples, whose cultures and ancestral knowledge have been passed down from generation to generation. This knowledge has allowed them to inhabit their territory in a harmonious way, seeking the well-being of all beings that coexist in it.
Many of their care practices are aimed at preserving the fertility of human beings, animals and plants, in an exercise of shared responsibility that involves wise men, women, children, youth and men.
With the support of the Maternal and Child Health Award, in Sinergias we work for the recognition and strengthening of these practices, especially those related to the care of pregnant women, childbirth, puerperium and newborn care.
Together with a group of indigenous women from different villages, we have developed community research processes to document traditional care practices. This information has been key to open spaces for dialogue with the ESE Hospital San Antonio de Mitú, promoting the socio-cultural adaptation of maternal health services.
In addition, we accompanied the preparation courses for maternity and paternity in the hospital, where indigenous wise men and women leaders share their knowledge with pregnant women and families. We also support the ESE in the adaptation of clinical practice guidelines, seeking to make traditional knowledge an integral part of the care offered at the institution.
