According to the National Planning Department (DNP), the Social Development of a country is related to the living conditions of the population, which are linked to the performance of the different social sectors. For example, education and health strengthen the human capital necessary for income generation, a factor that in turn determines the poverty status of a household.

The distribution of human capital in the population determines the composition and wages in the labor market, which largely determines the distribution of income.

Since it is through employment that people generate most of their income, the labor situation has fundamental consequences on poverty, as well as on income distribution. Consequently, the DNP states that the main objective of Colombia's Social Policy is to ensure that all Colombians have access to quality education, equitable and solidarity-based social security, the labor market -promoting formalization or supporting entrepreneurship- and effective social promotion mechanisms. In this way, the aim is to generate the necessary conditions so that any inhabitant, regardless of his or her condition, can generate and protect the resources that make his or her personal and social development possible.

Therefore, at Sinergias we are convinced that the impact of health actions increases if we act on other determinants of well-being and quality of life, which is fundamental and necessarily has repercussions on Social Development in the country. For this reason, we orient our actions towards the achievement of the development goals defined by the populations, bearing in mind that this is a participative and deliberative process that requires the development of competencies on the part of the different actors and institutions.

Accordingly, our work is framed in Social Innovation understood as the process of diagnosis, design, implementation and evaluation of alternative solutions to problems of a population in a specific context, in a novel, replicable, scalable, sustainable and responsible way.

In this sense, our areas of work are focused on:

Productive projects. We accompany and provide technical assistance for the generation of capacities of those individual, family and collective initiatives oriented to the generation of resources. We are interested in initiatives that are in line with the context, that make use of local knowledge, that use technology with low socio-environmental impact and that are widely creative.

Housing and environment. We support the design and development of socio-environmental diagnoses, the generation of alternatives to build healthy habitats respectful of the environment, we favor the sanitary management of populations and institutions, and we support technical assistance processes in conservation and biodiversity. Food Security. We accompany and provide technical assistance to processes aimed at ensuring food security and sovereignty of the population. These processes may or may not be framed in productive projects, according to the interests of the population to enter the market. For example, children can learn improved food production techniques in the context of a food security project.

Education for diversity. We carry out processes to generate competencies in technicians, professionals, leaders and the general population, for coexistence in diversity. Education in citizen rights and duties, the racial/ethnic perspective, the gender and disability approach, and the approach to violence, conflict and post-conflict, constitute our main interest. Undoubtedly, betting on the

Social Development of the country, implies an evolution or positive change in the relationships of people, groups and institutions in a society. It implies an articulation between Economic and Human Development, generating in the short and long term the welfare and social progress that all Colombians need.
